Singing runs in this famous family! Psalmist Ruth Andrea
Featherstone, the cousin of the 1st Lady of Motown, Mary Wells, is
making her own history in the genre of Gospel music. Ruth, originally
from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has “fire in her bones” that sets off
sparks when she sings. No matter where she is, she will praise God at
all times and with song whenever she is asked. She has been asked to
sing for small and large groups, for family, friends and other
audiences; and she always obliges because it is another opportunity to
uplift and inspire.
Psalmist Ruth has appeared on the Dr. Bobby Jones Show, Chicago’s
Singsation hosted by Vicki Winans, Sheraton Broadcast Inspiration Across
America, Aaron Spelling’s TV show Seventh Heaven, Pittsburgh Gospel
Showcase, Los Angeles 2000 Democratic Convention, Almavision Christian
Telethon, and the Gospel Music Channel’s Gospel Dreams. Her stage
credits include: “I Have a Dream, Precious Lord, Freedom Fighters,
Crossing the Line, Mustard Seed, Ragtime where she was nominated for the
Marcom Masques Award as “Best Supporting Actress” for her role as
Sarah’s Friend,” and she portrayed Mrs. Johnson in A Raisin in The Sun.” Also,
Ruth hosted her own cable TV program entitled, “Praises Incorporated,”
where she interviewed gospel singers Vermettya Royster and the late
Minister Daryl Coley. She has also ministered in songs with Soldiers for
the Second Coming under the direction of Billy Davis, Jr., and Marilyn
McCoo.
Psalmist Ruth received an Honorary Doctor of Sacred Music Degree from Elbon Solution College of Ministry in Apple Valley, CA. Dr. Ruth A. Featherstone is the recipient of the “Amazing Star Award” and the “Five-fold Ministry Award.” Dr. Featherstone knows that God has truly blessed her with many talents to use for His glory, honor, and praise. God has anointed, appointed, and approved her for such a time as this. Her purpose in life is to give God the highest praise; uplift the name of Jesus; encourage the Redeemed Ones; tell of God’s love, forgiveness, mercy, grace and goodness; compel sinners to come to Christ and evangelize the world through songs.
Dr. Ruth has the “joy of the Lord” that she wishes for everyone. No matter the struggle or problem, Ruth encourages and comforts with prayer and songs of praise. She shares her testimony of how God has been and continues to be her healer, provider, deliverer and commander of her steps.
