Great songs spring from the educated heart and soul. Sometimes that education is the long and roundabout journey of life. For singer/songwriter Matia, a serious illness in her earlier years pulled her far away from her music, her passion and the creative life that centered her world. Luckily for the rest if us, fate has led her back to her gifts and her current release, Blind.

Influenced by the soul of Ray Charles and the sensitive storytelling of James Taylor, Matia gravitated to music at the early age of six. By 14 she was playing on a professional level until the crushing blow of her illness sent her life down another road. Now, years and life’s voyages later, she has recovered and found her way back to music, teaming with her friend Kenny Mazur, who has played with everyone from Robert Palmer to Tina Turner. Together, they conjured the magic and recorded the 13 songs that make up the 2015 release, Blind.

Blind merges the heart of blues with the wordsmith ways of Country, and the soul of gospel. The result is an album that Matia refuses to place in a limiting genre. Blind takes the listener on a variety packed musical excursion of heart felt tunes in colorful but connected styles.

Back in the studio again, Matia and Mazur are now working on a second album. Between sessions they plan on performing throughout Los Angeles and Southern Oregon this Spring and Summer.
