Hailing from the Greater Toronto area, the Powerhouse Fellowship Soul Choir is a group of young adults with a passion and goal to change lives through music. Fondly referred to as POWERHOUSE, the choir was formed in 1986 for a church building fund program. In 1988 the choir was officially founded and directed under the leadership of Shawn Cotterell. “POWERHOUSE” has been invited to be part of several major events in the United States including Bishop Hezekiah Walker’s Choirfest which was held in Las Vegas, NV during the Stellar Award Weekend and has shared the stage with Gospel Music greats CeCe Winans, Pastor Shirley Caesar, and the Clark Sisters. Most recently the choir had the opportunity to sing with legendary Grammy award winner Stevie Wonder at the 2015 David Foster Foundation Miracle Gala. The group has also shared the stage with world-renowned Juno award winner Opera soprano Measha Brueggergosman for her “Songs of Freedom” CD release and tour. Traveling across Ontario, with highlight performances at the Bravo Niagara! Festival of the Arts and the 2017 Scotiabank Giller Prize which aired on CBC television.
You can find the Powerhouse Fellowship Soul Choir on tracks “Nightingale” & “Made of Gold” off Juno award nominee Royal Wood’s latest project “Ever After the Farewell” and British-based progressive, pop rock band Blurred Vision’s upcoming sophomore project produced by legendary rock producer Terry Brown
