Daniel Rose is a 22-year-old artist who strives to make music that represents his bicultural upbringing. He is African-American, but he grew up in a region of Memphis, TN where the Hispanic community was prevalent. Through intimate relationships and meaningful experiences, Daniel learned Spanish and both the African-American and Hispanic culture became a large part of his identity. He remembers blasting many different Artists such as Drake, Camila, Calle 13, and J Cole. However, music is not his only passion. He also strives to become a physician and is currently pursuing that dream. Daniel offers a unique message to the world of creating “positive vibes’ by staying true to who you are. It is hard to place his style into a genre because he makes music that mirrors what he grew up listening to, but due to his love of using productions of mainly the rap genre, Daniel will identify his art as Bilingual Rap. His artist name is eL enigmA (caps-sensitive) for 3 reasons. One, enigma is spelled the same in English and Spanish, the two languages that he speaks, and the word itself reveals the confusing nature of his identity. He is a monoracial, bicultural male and that has caused some misunderstandings and confusion in his life. Two, the name is spelled with unconventional capitalization to make a statement against society and how it often tells us the way we should do things and who we should be. Lastly, The letters that are capitalized are located at the end of the words because he wants to focus on what is to come rather on what happened in the past.
